Zinzi Restaurant is an African Inspired restaurant on the Hunter’s Estate. Designed by Paul Oosthuizen it is an open space overlooking the dam.
It has drawn inspiration from Nomadic African style, with textured concrete walls, screeded floors, beautiful antique Zanzibari doors and windows. The interiors are simple- Indian style tables and chairs upholstered in nomadic Suzani style handprinted textiles in natural tones.. Large antique tables with bench style dining and oversized chairs as well as low tables and handcrafted leather pouffes on Indian grinding wheels for relaxed interactive dining.
The menu in keeping is styled around African Meze, wholesome fresh South African meals using seasonal locally sourced produce, fresh salads, hearty tagines and a good selection of our best Cape wines.
I worked on this project over 10 years ago and the style is still fresh , contemporary and appropriate.
Again in its conception I was involved in all aspects – from the interiors, to the menus, uniforms, crockery and cutlery and general styling.
